Every year, the PTO is pleased to be able to fund a wide array of programs and events that support our school community and enrich the lives of students. Below are some of the programs for the upcoming school year.
Fall Festival (Friday, October 23) - Every October, we hold our annual Fall Festival. We have an ever popular painted pumpkin contest and cake walk. Lots of fun is on hand with games, face painting, and dancing. The Festival coincides with the final day of the Fall Book Fair, so be sure to stop by the library and take a look at all of the great selections available for purchase.
Thanksgiving Lunch (Tuesday, November 24) - November means the Thanksgiving Feast – a complete dinner that you get to enjoy with your children. The cafeteria staff will take care of all of the shopping, chopping and preparing – all you have to do is eat!
Holiday Shoppe (Monday, December 7) - In early December, we host a Holiday Shoppe where children can purchase gifts for friends and family with the assistance of a helper.
Science Fair and Invention Convention (February) - Come join us and the student participants who can’t wait to share their science and technology discoveries with you at our annual Science Fair and Invention Convention in February. Listen and learn at the Kids Inquiry Conference held simultaneously in the Cafeteria and Library where students who wanted to take their science fair findings to the next level, stand up and share their discoveries in a symposium-like venue.
Basketball Challenge (March) - This past school year, Laurel Ridge Elementary School challenged the BBES staff to a basketball game at Robinson Secondary School. Principal Bruce got her team together and on a Friday night last March, our staff showed what they were made of. The result? Bonnie Brae beat Laurel Ridge. This year, they have asked for a re-match. So be sure to put the date on your calendar and come out to support the team!
Talent Show (April) - This is an opportunity for Bonnie Brae students to showcase their talents. From singing and dancing, to magic and music, Bonnie Brae students have the opportunity to demonstrate their varied talents to friends, family and faculty alike. So start thinking about what your special talent is and get ready for BBES Talent Show '10.
Kindergarten Transition - Kindergarten Orientation is scheduled for early spring each year. The rising kinders will have an opportunity to visit the kindergarten classrooms while parents receive important information about the school and register their children. There will also be several kindergarten transition activities scheduled to take place during June, July and August so be sure to watch the Bonnie Brae website for those dates and times. It makes such a difference on that scary first day of school for
those kinders that participated in the summer activities!
Teacher Appreciation (May) - We love our teachers and staff! Each year in May, we celebrate them with a luncheon and small tokens of thanks.
