Welcome to the new school year at Bonnie Brae.  By now, I hope that all of you have gotten used to the new schedules and are settling into your new routines.  This year promises to be an exciting year for our family. My oldest child is in her last year at Bonnie Brae and it just seems like yesterday that I brought her here for her first day of kindergarten.   I feel very lucky that my children are attending such a wonderful school and have such good experiences here at Bonnie Brae.

I am excited to represent you as the PTO president this year.  The PTO is working on a variety of activities to enhance our children’s learning here at Bonnie Brae.  We have a lot of exciting things planned this year including the Fall Festival, Science Fair, Spring Carnival, the return of the Talent Show, Faculty Basketball, and new(hopefully) for this year a Spelling Bee.

As you know we are currently in the middle of our fall Sally Foster fundraiser.  We appreciate your support in helping to raise money to support PTO activities throughout the year.  Fundraisers also provide our students and staff with new technology, field trips, author visits, assemblies and other things that cannot be provided by the school system.  We are also offering Bonnie Brae Spirit Wear for sale so please show your school spirit and purchase a Scottie Dog shirt or sweatshirt.

Of course none of these things can be provided without the support of dedicated parents like you.  I hope you will consider becoming involved in the PTO this year.  We ask that you please join the PTO as a member.  The PTO is always in need of volunteers to run the many programs that we provide.  We have a variety of opportunities both big and small.  We welcome all to attend the PTO meetings on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:00 in the library. 

We also have a new website (www.bonniebraepto.org), which has important information about PTO programs and fundraisers, a link for purchasing Spirit Wear, membership and volunteer forms and the PTO calendar.    Please feel free to contact any of the board members regarding questions or concerns you have about the PTO.  You can email us through our new web site.  If you do not have access to email or the internet, please call the school office and they will be happy to put you in touch with us.

Our first big event for the year is the Fall Festival on October 23^rd.  The Fall Festival is a fun event where the kids can come out and see each other after school.  There will be our annual pumpkin painting competition, cakewalk and many other activities.  I hope you can come out and support the school.   I wish you all a great year here at Bonnie Brae.  I look forward to working with you in the coming year.
